Steven Spielberg, Succesful Filmmaker
Steven Allan Spielberg was known to be an American fimlmaker and
producer. He is a three time Academy Award winner and most
financially succesful filmmaker estimating at about $3 billion.
TIME magazine named him one of the 100 Greatest People of the
Century and LIFE named him 'the most influential person in his
generation.' As of 2006, Premiere magazine listed him as the most
powerful and influential figure in the motion picture industry.
Three of his films Jaws, E.T. and Jurassic Park became the
highest grossing films for their time. The movie Jaws launched
Spielberg's career as a successful hollywood director. Jaws is a
horror film based on Peter Benchely Novel. The film won 3 Academy
awards. These are best in editing, original score and sound.
One of the movies that he both wrote and directed was Close
Encounters of the Third Kind. This film was a hit at the box
office, and it gave him his first Best Director nomination at the
Academy Awards. It also won Oscars in two categories.
His science fiction genre film was E.T., Extra Terrestrial. It
is a story of a boy that he befriends with an alien trying to get
back home to outer space. It washis top grosssing film until it was
beaten by another of his film, Jurassic Park, in 1993.There are
more successful films, like Hook, Indiana Jones, Saving Private
Ryan and many more which he co-wrote, produced and directed.
Spielberg co-founded Dreamworks Studio in 1997.
Today, Spielberg is working on Indiana Jones 4. Other future
project is Abraham Lincoln bio-pic,and 'Intersellar' which will be
his first human space travel film, and set to be released in 2008.
